Yorkshire Legends and Traditions of Wells

England

Springs and wells of water have, in all lands and in all ages, been Greatly valued, and in some regarded with a feeling of veneration little, if at all, short of worship.

They have yielded their treasure to the sustenance and refreshment of man and beast, as age after age of the world’s history has passed along, and have been centers around which village story and gossip have gathered for generation after generation. Little wonder, therefore, is it that legends and traditions abound concerning them. These are often extremely local, and therefore little known.

The names alone, however, suggest much. The memory of the mythical gods, satyrs, and nymphs of the ancient heathen times lingers in a few, as in Thors-kil or Thors-well, in the parish of Burnsall; and in the almost universal declaration — by which not over-wise parents seek to deter children from playing in dangerous proximity to a well — that at the bottom, under the water, dwells a mysterious being, usually named Jenny Green-teeth or Peg-o’-the-Well, who will certainly drag into the water any child who approaches too near to it.

The tokens of medieval reverence for wells are abundant. The names of the saints to whom the wells were dedicated yet cling to them. “There is scarcely a well of consequence in the United Kingdom,” says the editor of Lancashire Folk-lore, “which has not been solemnly dedicated to some saint in the Roman calendar.”

Thus in Yorkshire we have Our Lady’s Well or Lady Well, St. Helen’s Well (very numerous), St. Margaret’s Well at Burnsall, St. Bridget’s Well near Ripon, St. Mungo’s Well at Copgrove, St. John’s Well at Beverley, St. Alkelda’s Well at Middleham, etc. Dr. Whitaker remarks that the wells of Craven, which bear the names of saints, are invariably presided over by females, as was the case with wells under the pagan ritual, in which nymphs exclusively enjoyed the same honor.

Water Demons

Scotland

In many of the deep pools of the streams and rivers guardian-demons were believed to reside, and it was dangerous to bathe in them.

Sometimes, when a castle or mansion was being sacked, a faithful servant or two contrived to rescue the plate chest, and to cast it into a deep pool in the nearest stream.

On one occasion a diver got to the bottom of such a pool to fetch up the plate of the neighbouring castle. He dived, saw the plate chest, and was preparing to lift it, when the demon ordered him to go to the surface at once, and not to come back. At the same time the demon warned him that, if he did come back, he would forfeit his life. The diver obeyed. When he reached the bank he told what he had seen, and what he had heard.

By dint of threats and promises of large reward, he dived again. In a moment or two afterwards his heart and lungs rose and floated on the surface of the water. They had been torn out by the demon of the pool.

Holy Lake near Neuhoff

Germany

There is a lake known as Holy Lake near the village of Neuhoff not far from the Elbe River in the district of Wolmirstedt.

At the time of Burkhard, the twenty-seventh archbishop of Magdeburg, who served from the year 1295 to the year 1304, this lake was filled with spirits and ghosts. They often frightened the fishermen and boatmen, and caused them much harm, drowning and causing the miserable death of many. When Archbishop Burkhard, a very pious and God-fearing man, heard of this, he went to the lake with great sincerity, and blessed the place, driving the evil spirits away, and they have never been seen there again.

From that time until the present day the lake has been known as Holy Lake.

Brother Nickel

Germany

On the Island of Rügen, in a thick forest, there is a deep lake. It is rich with fish, but its water is cloudy, and one cannot fish there. Nonetheless, many long years ago a number of fishermen attempted to do so, and brought their boat to the lake. The next day they returned home for their nets, and when they came back, their boat had disappeared. Then one of the fishermen looked around and discovered the vessel stuck in the top of a tall beech tree.

He cried out: “Who in the devil put my boat up the tree?”

They saw no one, but a voice from nearby answered, saying, “The devils did not do it. I did it together with my brother Nickel!”

Lorelei

Germany

Her beauty was her undoing. Lorelei was not wilfully seductive, but men could not resist her charms, and she could not resist their advances. She was bringing scandal and disgrace to the respectable town of Bacharach-on-the-Rhine.

There was even talk that she must be a witch or a woman possessed of the devil. The bishop, however, would not hear of an execution without due process, and he summoned her to his court. His questions were at first stern and severe. Her answers were simple and sincere. The bishop’s severity, his piety, and his priesthood, however, did not prevail, and in the end he pronounced her free of all guilt.

“I cannot continue like this!” she cried. “My eyes are the destruction of every man who looks into them. I have loved only one man, and he abandoned me and left for a distant land. Please let me die!”

But the good bishop could not bring himself to pronounce a death sentence. Instead, he proposed that she dedicate herself to God, and called three knights to accompany her to the convent. Arrangements were made forthwith, and the three knights were soon underway with their beautiful ward.

When their path led them past a high cliff overlooking the Rhine, Lorelei had one last request of her escorts. “Please,” she said, “let me climb the cliff and have one last look into the Rhine.” Unable to deny her this wish, the three knights tethered their horses, and the four of them climbed to the top of the cliff.

Standing at the edge of the precipice, Lorelei said, “See that boat on the Rhine. The boatman is my lover!” And with no further warning, she jumped from the cliff into the Rhine.

The three knights also met their death there, without a priest and without a grave.

Who is the singer of this song?
A boatman on the Rhine,
And we always hear the echo
Of the Three-Knight-Stone:
Lorelei
Lorelei
Lorelei
As though there were three of us.

Water Nixes, The Water-Man, and His Wife

Poland/Germany

The water-man (Wendish wodny muz), also called the nix (Wendish nykus), as well as his spouse the water-woman (wodna zona), lives in the rivers, lakes, and ponds of Lusatia. He tempts passers-by to go bathing, in order to drown them. This he does to everyone who trespass into his domain while bathing. Blue spots on a drowned person’s body are a sign that the nixes caused the drowning.

In appearance a nix cannot be distinguished from a human. On dry landhe is powerless, and can be taken prisoner and forced into servitude. He produces children with his wife, and these interact with human children. They even associate with humans at dances and fall in love with pretty girls and young men. The daughter of a water-man can always be recognized by the wet hem on her skirt.

The water-man usually wears a red cap on his head, and the water-woman red stockings on her feet. Further, in the towns of Upper Lusatia it has been observed that if a man wearing a linen jacket with a wet bottom hem comes to the weekly market and buys grain at above the market price, then grain will become more expensive. However, if he sells grain at a better
price than others, the price of grain will fall. This man is the water-man.

His wife is often seen sitting on a bank in her red stockings spinning or bleaching her laundry. In this last instance it means there will be rainy weather or high water. Just as the water-man bargains with grain, she bargains with butter, thus giving an indication of future prices.

In the region around Zittau during the moon’s first and last quarters, the water-man sits on riverbanks where the water is slow and deep and makes no sound. His appearance is ugly, with a very pale face and long black hair that hangs down to his shoulders. He is dressed from head to foot in brownish-yellow leather that has been put together entirely from little scraps. By moonlight he counts them aloud, at the same time slapping his legs with his hands. He can be recognized by this sound.

Curiosity seekers and daredevils, lured by this sound, have seen him sitting there on an overhanging bank and have attempted to interrupt him by counting and clapping. He slipped into the murmuring water, and nothing happened to them, but then they had the unpleasant experience of hearing clapping and counting in front of their house every night. This continued
until fear and anger finally caused them to join in with the counting, upon which they heard loud laughter, and were then no longer disturbed in their rest.

  • Lusatia (German Lausitz) is a region centered on the Neisse and Spree rivers with a historically mixed culture of Slavs (known as Wends or Sorbs) and Germans. The western portions are now part of Germany; the eastern portions belong to Poland.
  • Note by Karl Haupt:

The Slavic woda (water) and wodny (nix) have been associated with the Germanic Wodan. The Scandinavian Odin is, of course, also a nix (or Nichus, a personification of Odin’s). However, the German Wuothan appears foremost as the ruler of the air, as a god of wind and storm, whose breath [German Odem] blows in the woods and around the mountain summits. It is possible, of course, that the Slavs transformed the air god into a water god. Slavs have a great affinity for water. They practice water oracles, water sacrifices, and sacred ablutions in the manner of Oriental custom. The musical nix of the Wends is just as significant for the Slavic perspective as are the dwarfs and the wild huntsman — who live within the mountains and in the air — for the perspective of the Germans. Just as the music of a storm is more magnificent, simpler, and at the same time more spiritual than the more artful but smaller splashing of waves, so do the two nations differ from each other. Lusatia shows both tendencies. Its religious views differ as greatly as do the Germanic mountain forests of the south and the Slavic water forest (along the River Spree) of the north. But concerning the similarity of the words, their meaning can well reflect the view that water plays the same role for the Slavs that air does for the Germans, thus indicating a common linguistic root.

The Merrow

Ireland

The Merrow, or if you write it in the Irish, Moruadh or Murrúghach, from muir, sea, and oigh, a maid, is not uncommon, they say, on the wilder coasts. The fishermen do not like to see them, for it always means coming gales.

The male Merrows (if you can use such a phrase — I have never heard the masculine of Merrow) have green teeth, green hair, pig’s eyes, and red noses; duck-like scale between their fingers.

Sometimes they prefer, small blame to them, good-looking fishermen to their sea lovers. Near Bantry in the last century, there is said to have been a woman covered all over with scales like a fish, who was descended from such a marriage. Sometimes they come out of the sea, and wander about the shore in the shape of little hornless cows.

They have, when in their own shape, a red cap, called a cohullen druith, usually covered with feathers. If this is stolen, they cannot again go down under the waves. Red is the color of magic in every country, and has been so from the very earliest times. The caps of fairies and magicians are well-nigh always red.

The Water Snake

Russia

There was once an old woman who had a daughter; and her daughter went down to the pond one day to bathe with the other girls. They all stripped off their shifts, and went into the water. Then there came a snake out of the water, and glided on to the daughter’s shift. After a time the girls all came out, and began to put on their shifts, and the old woman’s daughter wanted to put on hers, but there was the snake lying on it. She tried to drive him away, but there he stuck and would not move. Then the snake said, “If you’ll marry me, I’ll give you back your
shift.”

Now she wasn’t at all inclined to marry him, but the other girls said, “As if it were possible for you to be married to him! Say you will!”

So she said, “Very well, I will.” Then the snake glided off from the shift, and went straight into the water. The girl dressed and went home. And as soon as she got there, she said to her mother, “Mammie, mammie, thus and thus, a snake got upon my shift, and says he, ‘Marry me or I won’t let you have your shift;’ and I said, ‘I will.'”

“What nonsense are you talking, you little fool! as if one could marry a snake!” And so they remained just as they were, and forgot all about the matter.

A week passed by, and one day they saw ever so many snakes, a huge troop of them, wriggling up to their cottage. “Ah, mammie, save me, save me!” cried the girl, and her mother slammed the door and barred the entrance as quickly as possible. The snakes would have rushed in at the door, but the door was shut; they would have rushed into the passage, but the
passage was closed. Then in a moment they rolled themselves into a ball, flung themselves at the window, smashed it to pieces, and glided in a body into the room. The girl got upon the stove, but they followed her, pulled her down, and bore her out of the room and out of doors. Her
mother accompanied her, crying like anything.

They took the girl down to the pond, and dived right into the water with her. And there they turned into men and women. The mother remained for some time on the dike, wailed a little, and then went home.

Three years went by. The girl lived down there, and had two children, a son and a daughter (Hybrid demons in human form). Now she often entreated her husband to let her go to see her mother. So at last one day he took her up to the surface of the water, and brought her ashore. But she asked him before leaving him,

“What am I to call out when I want you?”

“Call out to me, ‘Osip, [Joseph] Osip, come here!” and I will come,” he replied.

Then he dived under water again, and she went to her mother’s carrying her little girl on one arm, and leading her boy by the hand. Out came her mother to meet her. She was so delighted to see her!

“Good day, mother!” said the daughter.

“Have you been doing well while you were living down there?” asked her mother.

“Very well indeed, mother. My life there is better than yours here.”

They sat down for a bit and chatted. Her mother got dinner ready for her, and she dined. “What’s your husband’s name?” asked her mother.

“Osip,” she replied.

“And how are you to get home?”

“I shall go to the dike, and call out, ‘Osip, Osip, come here!’ and he’ll
come.”

“Lie down, daughter, and rest a bit,” said the mother.

So the daughter lay down and went to sleep. The mother immediately took an axe and sharpened it, and went down to the dike with it. And when she came to the dike, she began calling out, “Osip, Osip, come here!”

No sooner had Osip shown his head than the old woman lifted her axe and chopped it off. And the water in the pond became dark with blood.

The old woman went home. And when she got home her daughter awoke. “Ah! mother,” says she, “I’m getting tired of being here; I’ll go home.”

“Do sleep here tonight, daughter; perhaps you won’t have another chance of being with me.”

So the daughter stayed and spent the night there. In the morning she got up and her mother got breakfast ready for her; she breakfasted, and then she said good-bye to her mother and went away, carrying her little girl in her arms, while her boy followed behind her. She came to the dike, and called out, “Osip, Osip, come here!”

She called and called, but he did not come. Then she looked into the water, and there she saw a head floating about. Then she guessed what had happened.

“Alas! my mother has killed him!” she cried.

There on the bank she wept and wailed. And then to her girl she cried, “Fly about as a wren, henceforth and evermore!”

And to her boy she cried, “Fly about as a nightingale, my boy, henceforth and evermore!”

“But I,” she said, “will fly about as a cuckoo, crying ‘Cuckoo!’ henceforth and evermore!”

  1. Hey there,

I want to share some extremely important news that’s been spreading throughout the internet relevant to our future well being.

We’re coming towards a future of a one world cashless money society where they will mandate us to receive an RFID chip placed in our body. This chip will hold our personal data and we will lose much more of our privacy due to the tracking technology.

Even more of a concern, have you heard that this was all prophesied about 2000 years in the past by a person named Jesus Christ? Have doubts? Keep reading… This could be the most important thing you will ever read.

    • “And he(the false prophet) causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads,

that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark or the name of the beast or the number of his name.

Here is wisdom: Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six” (Revelation 13:16-18 KJ21)…

Speaking of the last days, this can only be referring to a society where physical currency is no more, which we have yet to see, but we are heading towards. Why? Because we would be able to buy or sell without accepting the mark among one another if physical currency was still valid. It logically deduces itself to this conclusion.

This mark could not be something spiritual, because the word references two distinct physical places. If it was to be spiritual, it would just say in the forehead.

Here is where it really ties together. It is astonishing how on the mark(so to speak) the scriptures are concerning this RFID chip. These are notes from a person named Carl Sanders who worked with a crew of engineers to help produce the RFID microchip in the 90’s.

Carl Sanders sat in 17 New World Order conferences with heads-of-state officials such as Henry Kissinger and Bob Gates of the C.I.A. to discuss plans on how to bring forth this one-world system. The government commissioned Carl Sanders to design a microchip for identifying and controlling the peoples of the world-a microchip that would be inserted under the skin with a hypodermic needle(a fast, convenient process that would be progressively received by the people).

Carl Sanders, along with a crew of engineers with him, with US grant monies supplied by US tax dollars, took on this task and produced a RFID microchip that’s powered by a lithium battery, rechargeable with the aid of the temperature fluctuations in our skin. Without the knowledge of the biblical scriptures (Sanders was not a follower of Christ at the time), these men spent one-and-a-half-million dollars gathering data on the best and most convenient location to have the RFID microchip inserted below the skin.

Guess what? These researchers discovered that the forehead and the back of the hand(the two places Revelation says the mark will be placed) are not only the most convenient locations, however are also the only viable places for constant, consistent temperature fluctuations within the skin to recharge the lithium battery. The RFID microchip is approximately 7 millimeters in length, .75 millimeters in diameter, about the dimensions of a grain of rice. It is capable of containing pages of data you. All of your standard information, work information, crime information, health history, and financial data will be saved on this chip.

Carl Sanders believes that this microchip, which he remorsefully helped develop, is the “beast’s mark” described in Revelation 13:16-18. The Greek word for “mark” is “charagma,” which means a “scratch or etching.” Additionally it is fascinating to note that the number 666 is in fact a word in the original Greek language. That word is “chi xi stigma,” with the last part, “stigma,” additionally meaning “to stick or prick. Mr. Sanders believes this is referring to the use of a hypodermic needle being poked in a person to insert the chip.”

Carl asked a doctor what would take place if the lithium contained within the RFID microchip was exposed in the human body. The physician responded by saying a terrible sore would manifest in that spot. This is what the book of Revelation says:

“And the first(angel) went, and poured out his bowl into the earth; and it became a noisome and grievous sore upon the men that had the mark of the beast, and that worshipped his image” (Revelation 16:2 ASV).

The Bible tells us that we cannot buy or sell without receiving the mark of the beast, or the number of its name. This number is identified as 666. God’s word us to calculate the number 666. How can we calculate 666?

This is where it becomes an eye opener. Counting the number 666 has been long debated throughout the centuries, but has finally been made known in these final days by the revelation of God. What you will read establishes itself with the holy scriptures the true interpretation to calculate 666.

Throughout the Bible, God uses the number three for confirming things. Here are a few examples:

“For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one” (1 John 5:7 NKJV).

“and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:4 NKJV).

“…Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” (Revelation 4:8 NKJV).

Now what is interesting is the the mark is explained in detail in three different verses (Revelation 13:16,17,18), and each verse lists 3 different examples of the given topic. The final three being the number six being used three times in a row. This is a key point to unlocking how to count the number 666.

What does it mean to calculate the number of the beast, 666? It means to add up. So how could we add up 666? Call back to mind my earlier key point about God confirming in 3’s. Now logically, what would be the most sensible way to count the number 666? To add it up equally in 3’s based off the number. It is not rational to count it equally as 600+60+6, this would also revert us back to the start. We are not able to count it as 600+600+600, or 60+60+60, because there are no zeroes in between or at the end of 666. The only logical option is 6+6+6=18. What is interesting is that the verse that tells us to count the number of the beast itself is verse 18, being the 3rd verse out of 3 verses that describe the mark. What is 18 divided by 3? 6. So 3×6=18, or 6+6+6=18.

Another fascinating point is that the two other possible combinations (making a total of 3 possible combinations) for moving the plus symbol in between the sixes are 66+6=72, and 6+66=72. Count up both 72’s together and you get 144. Why the number 144 is interesting is because the verse following Revelation 13:18 is the first time in the scriptures where the 144,000 are being described in detail:

“Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads…” (Revelation 14:1).

If we add up all three values by counting 666 by moving the plus symbol around in all 3 possible combinations, we would get 72+72+18=162. What is fascinating about the number 162, is, if you divide 144,000 by 162, you get 888. The name for Jesus in Greek gematria calculates to 888. The New Testament was written in the Greek language. Revelation 14:1 not only mentions the 144,000, but also the Lamb who is the Son of God, Jesus.

Now what is fascinating concerning the number for Jesus, 888, is that if you apply this same formula, you get 8+8+8=24. Why the number 24? Revelation chapter 4 tells us there are 24 elders seated around the throne of God. This is the same throne where Jesus sits:

“Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads” (Revelation 4:2-4).

Now if you take 8+8+8=24, and 8+88=96, and 88+8=96, you get 24+96+96=216. Take 144,000 divided by 216 and you get 666. Take into account that this was the same exact method to get the number 162 out of counting 666 that brought about the number 888 when dividing 144,000 by 162. It’s perpetual.

With using the same formulation of counting by adding the “+” symbol in between the numbers, why do all these numbers relate in such a manner?

Another interesting point to notice is that if you add up all of the numbers from 1 to 36, it totals 666. The number 36, as in three sixes? May this be a hint that we must add up three sixes instead of perceiving the number as six-hundred sixty six?

So what might this suggest? We know in this world we are recognized by numbers in numerous forms. Starting from our birth certificates to our social security card, also with our drivers license, being recognized founded on a system of ruler ship. So it’s plausible that this RFID chip will include a new identification that has a complete total of 18 characters.

Might this be the identification of the beast, the number of its name? The one-world beast system that’s recognized by 18 characters? This is able to fit the scriptures that speaks of a mark that we ought to have to buy or sell in our right hand or forehead, and that it also contains the number of the beast, during a future cashless money society.

Go to: https://biblefreedom.com to see all the proof!

The Bible warns us in the last days that a false prophet will rise up doing miraculous signs to deceive many to acquire this mark:

“Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image” (Revelation 19:20).

No matter the cost, DO NOT TAKE IT!

“Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name” (Revelation 14:9-11).

We’re living in very prophetic times with major Biblical prophecies coming to pass. When Donald Trump acknowledged Jerusalem as capital of Israel on December 6th of ’17, this was a big step to fulfill the Third Temple foretold within the Holy Bible.

The scriptures warns us that the Antichrist will seat himself in this temple:

“…and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God” (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4).

In the Islamic faith, there is a person called the Mahdi, referred to as their messiah who they’re eagerly waiting to be revealed. There are a number of testimonies from individuals on the internet who imagine this man shall be Barack Obama who may be the biblical Antichrist. I myself have had unusual dreams about Barack. He came on stage declaring himself to be a follower of Christ with no affiliation to the Muslim religion, but was later revealed by his own family members that he indeed is a religious Muslim.

His actual name is stated to be Barry Soetoro, and he had his name switched to Barack Obama. Why would he do this?

Jesus says, “And He said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven'” (Luke 10:18).

In Hebrew, the name “Barack” means “lighting”, and the usage of “Bama” (Strongs Hebrew phrase 1116) is used to mean the “heights” of heaven.

The day following the election of Barack Obama (11/04/08), the winning choose 3 lotto numbers in Illinois (Obama’s domestic state) for 11/5/08 were 666.

Obama was a U.S. senator for the state of Illinois, and his zip code was 60606.

Regardless, whoever seats themselves in the Third Temple that is to be built in Jerusalem, declaring himself to be God IS THE ANTICHRIST. NEVER FORGET.

Why do we need Jesus Christ?

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 2:23).

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Our good works cannot save us. If we step in front of a judge, being responsible of a criminal offense, the judge is not going to judge us by the good that we’ve done, rather the crimes we’ve committed. If we as fallen humanity, created in God’s image, pose this type of moral justice, how much greater a perfect, righteous, and Holy God?

God has introduced to us His moral regulation’s by means of the 10 commandments given to Moses at Mt. Siani. These legal guidelines were not given so we may be justified, but in order that we might see the need for a savior. They are the mirror of God’s character of what He has put in each of us, with our conscious bearing witness that we know that it’s an offense to steal, lie, dishonor our parents, and son on.

We may strive to observe all the ethical laws of the ten commandments, but we’ll never catch up to them to be justified before a Holy God. The same word of the law given to Moses manifested as flesh over 2000 years ago inside the body of Jesus Christ. He came to be our justification by perfectly fulfilling the commandments of God, living a sinless life that solely God could fulfill.

The distance between us and the law of God can never be reconciled by our own personal merit, however the arm of Jesus is stretched out by the grace and mercy of God. And if we’re to grab on, by way of faith in Him, He’ll pull us up being the one to justify us. As inside the court of law, if somebody steps in and pays your debt, despite the fact that you are guilty, the judge can do what’s legal and just and set you free. This is what Jesus did almost 2000 years in the past on the cross. It was a legal transaction being fulfilled in the spiritual realm by the shedding of His blood, with His final words being, “…It is finished!…” (John 19:30).

Now why did Jesus have to die for us?

Due to the fact that God is Holy and just, the wrath that we deserve could not be overlooked. Because of the perfect righteousness and justice of God’s character, it must be reconciled, it must be quenched and satisfied.

For God takes no pleasure in the dying of the wicked (Ezekiel 18:23). That is why in Isaiah chapter 53, the place it speaks of the coming Messiah and His soul being a sacrifice for our sins, why it says it pleased God to crush His only begotten Son.

This is due to the fact the wrath that we deserve was justified by being poured out upon His Son. For if it was poured out on us who have earned it, we would all die and go to hell. God created a means of escape by pouring it out on His Son who’s soul could not stay in Hades, but was raised and seated at the right hand of God in power.

So now once we put on the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 13:14), God no longer see’s the individual who deserves His wrath, but now the glorious image of His perfect Son dwelling in us, justifying us as if we obtained the wrath we deserve, making a way of escape from the curse of death.

Now what we must do is repent and trust in the savior, confessing and forsaking our sins. That is not only a head knowledge of believing in Jesus, butrather receiving His words, taking them to heart. Where we no longer live to exercise sin, but turn from our sins and practice righteousness:

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

By doing so we will become transformed into the image of God by way of faith in His Son Christ Jesus Who is willing to offer the Holy Spirit to people who ask of Him:

“Most assuredly, I(Jesus) say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ (John 3:5-6).

“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” (Romans 8:9).

Now what are you waiting for? Our Father in heaven only wants the best for us all, restoring all the things this world has stolen from us. This is what it means to be “holy”. To be made whole.

He is ready to hear from you. That God given tongue to speak language, by means of faith, pray to Him, ask Him to forgive you by confessing to Him your sins and be willing to forsake them; that you receive the sacrifice of His Son Jesus on the cross, and that you need His Holy Spirit living inside you reworking you into a child of the living God.

Jesus says, “but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him(the Holy Spirit) will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Did you know that Jesus spoke more about hell than any individual else in God’s holy word, even more than He spoke about heaven?! For this very purpose He was brought forth to die for us, to rescue us from this place that we earned by our sins.

He describes hell as a actual place where,

    “Their worm does not die
And the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:44).

    And where,

“There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth…” (Luke 13:28).

Jesus tells us who to fear,

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28).

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.’

Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful.’

And He said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.'” (Revelation 21:1-8).

Out of all of the world religions, how can we make certain the Bible has it all right? The scientific data has established and continues to support that the universe once had a starting point in which space, time and matter had been created. Many know this as the big bang.

“The non-biblical religions tell us that god or god’s create within space and time that eternally exist. The Bible stands alone and says that time and space don’t exist until God creates the universe.” – Astronomer(Phd) Hugh Ross

The Bible not only got it correct that space, time and matter all came into existence at the beginning of the universe, it also states in 7 distinct scriptures that the universe is in a continuous state of expansion 1000’s of years earlier than scientists found out these things.

Did you know that the real Noah’s Ark was discovered where God’s word instructed us it would be with the right dimensions? As well as proof for the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and the Exodus event of the Red Sea crossing?

The Bible is the most translated and studied historical book in the history of the world, packed with predictive prophecies, matching what we find in the book of nature. Wouldn’t you count on God’s word to be so?
